As a company, you need values and live up to them to keep the group of people together that SHAPED these values.
Values organically emerge from the combination of a group. If you then distill these values from the group and make them explicit. As you grow, and live up to them, you can keep this group alive and together.
Keep in mind you can also set values that represent more who you want to be. The aspirational values. They might not keep your group together but they can define the group that will be the future of your company. Sometimes you have to let go.
What worked in the past might not work in the future. Sometimes it does though. For a while longer, at least.
